Of course the milling of all grains is also possible on the Universal mill, and especially wet maize and wheat milling for “masa de maiz” and “masa de trigo” used in Mexican preparations called nixtamalization and can be famously ground on the Universal mill’s plate mill apart from grinding of all warm season and cold season grains, pseudocereal grains, starchy broadleaf grains as well as pulses such as: finger millet, fonio, foxtail millet, Japanese millet, Job's tears, kodo millet, maize (corn), millet, pearl millet, proso millet, sorghum, Barley, Rye Grains, Rice grains, barley, oats, rice, rye, spelt, teff, triticale, ,wheat, wild rice, Buckwheat, amaranth, chia, quinoa. Apart from this comprehensive list of applications, the pin mill is also extremely suitable to grind down products with a high sugar content as pure cane sugar and beet sugar into castor sugar and icing sugar. The plate mill again is the only mill able to grind down the seeds of presopus, a sweet seed used by persons suffering from diabetes.
Stone milling applications include all grains mentioned above milled down for organic preparations. Only the very finest Danish millstones are used in this application and grinding takes place at low revolutions per minute to retain low temperatures during milling.
Spare parts and mills are available from ABC Hansen in South Africa and its dealers in Nebraska for the USA and in Denmark for Europe.
Complete milling systems can be designed and supplied to include cleaning through separation, aspiration and by specific weight, destoning, conveyance by means of augers (screw conveyors), belt and chain conveyors, inclined belts, bucket elevators and air conveyance as well as cooling, extrusion, expelling of oil, roasting, and packing.
The Universal Mill
The unique combination of hammer mill, plate mill and stone mill, (also known as the milling triplets) in one basic structure is an inexpensive solution to small millers requiring these functions. The various attachments and speed reducers are supplied in kit form whereby one drive unit is all it takes to, in turn, transform the plate mill into a hammer mill or a stone mill.Without changing pulleys, a simple frequency inverter may be used to change the required speed of operation for the various applications.
The plate mill is used for grinding grains and wet and oily products. The hammer mill is used for milling herbs or other coarse / large particle, non free flowing material.
The stone mill is used for fine milling of all the above products other than wet and oily products.
U.S. customers can order the ABC Hansen Universal Disc Mill Plate Grinder from Pleasant Hill Grain, the U.S. importer.
